How's the New Years resolutions going?

So, since I've decided January 1st to cut out pork and High Fructose Corn Syrup I've lost 5 lbs. It hasn't been the easiest I would have to say, considering it seems as though almost every product out there besides raw fruits and vegetables has it in it. But I do have to say I have definitely seen results and I feel a whole lot better. I've been trying to add to my new year's resolution no Artificial (flavor, colors, or sweeteners) since the 22nd of January...haven't been the most successful there but I'm working on it. I'm trying to add a new year's resolution every 21 days.This week I've been inspired from another blog I follow "Keeper of the Home" (aka and on her blog one of her guests from challenged others to try going off sugar for a whole week (you can check out the article on her blog @ ) she's been off sugar for 3 years.

It has challenged me to try it out for a week to see how my results might be....which I can already tell you will not be the easiest challenge for me since I love coffee but usually like sugar in the raw in it...but I figured if I take it one day at a time not focusing on the Big Picture (the whole week long) I think I can do this. So starting Monday morning I think I'm going to give it a go and try to go sugar free for the whole. With a few tweaks to it. I will allow myself products that have natural sugars.
For instance: Fruits, Honey, and Stevia (which is a natural sweetener extracted from a plant) that way I can still have my cup of jo in the mornings. I have to be careful I don
't restrict my diet to much from foods because I'm still breastfeeding Marcus. I need food to make sure I'm still producing milk for him. I do have to say though, I've been pleased with the results physically and internally of no pork or High Fructose Corn Syrup, so what can it hurt with no sugar for a week. =}
I can only feel better by going more natural. So, onto this new adventure and I will let you know how it goes.

New Years Resolutions

Okay one of my new years resolutions was to get my family to start eating healthier.

And one of the ways I intend to do that is to cut things out of our foods that we eat. So, I started with myself and I'm cutting out a few items at a time...I found it's easier to keep good habits if you only take baby steps at completing the big picture. The BIG PICTURE that I would like to eventually see is for us to consume the

"Great Physicians RX for Health and Wellness".

You can check out the diet in this book.

I know I will have a better chance being successful in this goal by changing my own eating habits first and then move onto my children and just have High Hopes for my husband.=}

(he's getting pretty set in his ways, but I figure if he sees how healthy and great I feel...and look, for his eyes only) lol

My High Hopes is he will slowly desire to make the same changes.

So, the few things I have started with this year are a staple for our so called American diet
(pork and high fructose corn syrup). And wow, I didn't realize how much products actually have high fructose corn syrup in them until I started paying more attention to labels so I could cut them out of my foods that I consume. You maybe wondering why I chose these two items to start with, well let me tell you...the pork will be easy for me, even though I enjoy bacon and ham, I don't absolutely love them so I don't mind going without. (Pork is pigs which are scavenger animals that will literally eat anything that comes across their paths...Won't go into any gruesome details, so what they consume is broken down and goes through their digestive system which will excrete from their bodies and when we eat pig we will eventually consume whatever they have can read more about pigs if you pick up Jordan Rubin's book) I know it will be easier to say no to pork then it will be to say no to chocolate that contains high fructose corn syrup. But it's a psychological thing for me, if I can say no to pork then I can also say no to high fructose corn syrup...I just have to read labels a lot closer now.
I've been doing good so far, but we are only 4 days into the New Year and I had Trader Joe's chocolate that had no fructose corn syrup that was given to us over the holidays that was AMAZING to say the least, but now it is all gone and I need to find some more.
Because I really enjoy my chocolate! (i will confess i did have 1 m-n-m today...)
So this is my fun new adventure I am on, and I am excited to get completely on the
"The Great Physicians RX for Health and Wellness"
but I'm going to take it one baby step at a time.
Some steps will be smaller then others. =}
